If there’s no club or class that matches my interests, can I start one? What is the procedure to start a club at Del Webb?
A
Yes, most all the clubs and groups have been started by homeowners and the Lifestyle Director is more than willing to help you start a club. Typically folks get together and talk to one another about starting a club or group. Some folks have moved from other Del Webb communities and started similar groups or clubs. Interest can also be posted on our homeowner’s web site and through word of mouth. We have over 80 clubs and groups at my community.

What is the schedule for fitness classes and activities? Are there evening classes?
A
There are scheduled fitness classes and activities at a variety of times evenings included. Schedules come out monthly at my community

Is there a newcomer’s guide where new folks like us can learn about the local restaurants and services like doctors and dentists, etc.?
A
In the sales center there is usually information available that contains a significant listing of local eateries, hospitals, etc. The best source of information for newcomers, in my opinion, is the homeowners themselves. Everyone is very willing to share of their own experiences in an effort to make it easier for newcomers to easily adjust to their relocation to Del Webb.

Can our guests use the community pool, golf course and other amenities?
A
At my community, guests may use the pools and other amenities as long as they are accompanied by at least one of the residents living in the community. There is usually a small, nominal fee for guests to use the pools and the gym. But each Del Webb community has its own guidelines, so it’s worth checking.

We like to have guests over and are looking for home that is comfortable for entertaining. Are visitors welcome in the community?
A
Visitors are always welcome in my community. We have many outside guests/family who visit throughout the year and some have purchased a new home because they love Del Webb and all it has to offer.

My grandchildren like to visit me every summer. Can they visit for a week? Is there a time limit for how long children can visit?
A
Your grandchildren are definitely welcome to visit you! Generally, children under 19 can visit for a specific number of days. The community’s Covenant, Conditions and Restrictions provide more specifics on the age of the children and the number of days. Usually, the number of days is 60 to 90 per year. A sales consultant can help you get information on the specific rules on overnight visits at the community you’re interested in.

As a recent widow, I’m a little nervous about being “single” at Del Webb. Are there other people in my situation? I don’t want to feel isolated.
A
When I moved here I was married. My husband passed away 3 years ago and I had such great support and many friends; I continue to live here. We do have many singles here but also a great many couples and we all enjoy each other’s company. We travel and visit together and just have a great time! Many communities also have a Singles Club and it’s a great way to meet nice people - men and women alike.

Does Del Webb embrace people from different backgrounds there? I love meeting people of all types and interests.
A
Del Webb communities are a great place to meet people from all over the country. They come with varying backgrounds, experiences and interests. This variety of interest is what makes a community grow. With new interests come new clubs and groups for everyone to enjoy.

I work from home and don’t expect to fully retire. Is Del Webb only for retirees?
A
Absolutely not. I currently work in the sales office at our Del Webb community. There are many residents that continue to work both in and outside the home.

Is everyone in the community 55 or older, or can younger people live there?
A
At least one person in the household must be 55 or older unless the Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions state differently. However, there must always be a minimum of 80% of the households in the community that have at least one person who is 55 or older.

Is it okay for my pets to be outside? What are the restrictions/guidelines for outdoor pets?
A
In many Del Webb communities you may fence in your back yard or have an invisible fence installed in your yard to keep your pet safe when outside. You would however want to check the rules for your specific community. It is recommended that you keep an eye on your pet even if they are in a fenced yard to monitor their barking and to keep them from getting loose. Pets outdoors outside a fence must be kept on a leash. And many Del Webb communities have dog parks because so many of our homeowners have dogs! The main thing is to enjoy your pet while being considerate of your neighbors. If you have a condition where a service dog or some other pet is needed and you have questions or requests, you should check with the community manager.

We have a dog and she needs friends, too. Are Del Webb communities pet friendly?
A
My experience has been that my Del Webb community is very pet friendly. However, each Del Webb community has its own rules on the number of pets one can have.

I like people but am a little shy. How do you get to know people there? Are there events for “newbies”?
A
I was also concerned about activities and making new friends. The way my community greets each new resident is a wonderful experience and immediately puts one’s mind at ease with regards to making friends and feeling comfortable in the community. There are also numerous clubs and activities for all to enjoy.

I want to relocate from another state but don’t know how to start. Who should I contact and how? By phone? Online? Can Del Webb help?
A
You are in good hands if you are interested in a Del Webb community. You can start by exploring the Del Webb website www.delwebb.com to search for the state you want to move to and then search for the Del Webb communities in that state. Follow the link to your particular community of interest to communicate with an online representative. They will forward your questions and contact information to a Sales Consultant for that community who will follow up with answers to answer your questions about purchasing a home .

We’re trying to decide whether to buy an existing home or build new. Is building a new home really worth it?
A
I believe that building a new home is really worth it. With a new Del Webb home you will get to choose from the latest selection of options like color, lighting, cabinet, counter top and flooring selections. You will get a home warranty, you will get to pick your home elevation and choose your own lot.

We've looked at a lot of new homes that are flashy but cheaply built. How would you rate the construction quality of Del Webb homes?
A
I am extremely pleased with every aspect of construction on my home which we built in 2005. Del Webb has always exceeded my expectations for quality in construction and service

Do people use their Del Webb home as a second home and live the rest of the year someplace else?
A
While most people living in a Del Webb community use it as their primary residence, some of our residents own two homes and spend winters in one location (generally warmer!) and live elsewhere during the summer. Everyone has the opportunity to enjoy their Del Webb home in the manner that best suits their lifestyle.
